About ten years ago I found myself being exposed to medieval arms and
armor through room mates that participated in period events. T’was the
defence more then the offence that caught my fancy. The intricate patterns and
functional utility of chainmaille fascinated me. It wasn’t long before I was
weaving the stuff and learning that there was much more to maille then just
keeping the business end of a sword out of the wearers innards. From that
beginning, maille has lead me on an awesome journey. I’ve created jewelry,
show armor, live-blade fencing armor, adornments for glasswear and pottery,
adult oriented items, and even snowchains for a lawn tractor. I’m currently
instructing maille locally as well as leading an artisan group in Norwich and
online.

Jewelry has always been an obsession with me.  I am inspired by nature,
particularly the beach.  I love the blues and greens of the ocean, the earth
colors of the sand, and the copper shimmer of the sun on the water.  You’ll find
shell, glass, and other semi-precious stones found in nature in my jewelry art.

Underglass
Eclectic Resin Jewelry for the Artistic Soul
Carol-Ann Sbarbori
casbarbori@aol.com
underglass.etsy.com      underglass.1000markets.com
When I was little I was fascinated by a collection of glass domes my
grandmother had , every size and shape. Under each of the glass domes were
her favorite items , those things most precious to her.   Items that were
honored enough to placed under one of her glass domes were not all
expensive or breakable, they were the items that touched her heart. A pressed
dandelion, a hand embroidered handkerchief from her grandmother,a small
cup full of pearls from her wedding dress. When I would give my grandmother
a handmade gift I would know I really got it right when she would say , " This is
wonderful, this belongs under glass!" And up she would lift one of the precious
glass domes and place her gift under it.

K.M. Brown Studio
Silver Jewelry
Kristen Brown
860-805-7350     kmbrownstudio@charter.net
Kristen earned her MFA (Master of Fine Arts) in painting and sculpture.  She
found silver and beads along her ever-evolving journey of experimenting with
mixed media and fell in LOVE!  She thinks of each piece as a miniature
sculpture, and loves the idea of "wearable art."   New to her collection are her
one-of-a-kind handcrafted pieces fabricated from PMC (precious metal clay)
and Bronze clay. Both PMC and Bronze clay pieces are created from micro
particles of pure silver or bronze that are suspended in a binder of water and
organic plant-based materials. The malleable clay-like substance is hand-
formed, then heated in a kiln at high temperatures where the binders burn off.
The resulting piece of 99.9% pure silver or Bronze is finished with typical
metalwork techniques.  The bronze and silver used in Bronze clay and PMC is
100% recycled material -- all reclaimed from electronic manufacturing
processes!

Kristen combines her silverwork with vintage beads, lampwork beads, and
semiprecious or natural stone.  She is dedicated to the ethics of fair-trade and
supports other artisans by incorporating  their silver and glass work into some
of her pieces.  K. M. Brown Studio jewelry is jewelry that is beautiful from the
start!
You can learn more about Kristen and her work at her website:
